Release Dates: ‘Uncharted’, ‘Masters of the Universe’ Delayed, ‘The French Dispatch’ Out in July

It’s a good day to be Wes Anderson fans, and a bad day to be Uncharted and Masters of the Universe fans.

According to The Hollywood Reporter’s Borys Kit, Sony‘s Uncharted and Masters of the Universe have been delayed. He revealed the news on his Twitter account.

Uncharted was previously set to open December 18, 2020, but will now hit theaters March 5, 2021.That’s probably for the best given that it currently doesn’t have a director attached.

However, with Uncharted taking Master of the Universe‘s release slot that film is now nowhere to be found. There were rumors last year that MotU might head straight to Netflix, but nothing was ever confirmed.

In better news, Searchlight Pictures (The Studio Formerly Known as Fox Searchlight) has announced that The French Dispatch will hit theaters July 24, 2020.

The film will be set in 1950s Paris and follow a group of journalists at an American newspaper bureau. The ensemble cast includes Benicio del Toro, Adrien Brody, Tilda Swinton, Lea Seydoux, Frances McDormand, Timothee Chalamet, and Bill Murray.

Are you surprised Uncharted was delayed? Should Masters of the Universe move to Netflix? After all, it does already have two TV shows in the works. Are you excited for more Wes Anderson?
