American actor RJ Mitte has died at the age of 34.
Mitte died in Brownsville, Texas. No cause of death has been given.
“It is with profound sadness that we share the tragic passing of beloved actor, philanthropist, and passionate disability rights advocate RJ Mitte,” his reps said, via Deadline. The reps asked for the family’s privacy at this time.
Mitte was best known for playing Walter Jr., the son of Bryan Cranston’s Walter White, in the Emmy-winning series Breaking Bad. The breakout role led to parts in movies and TV series, like the 2021 drama Triumph, where he played a high school senior who tries at extreme cost to be a wrestler despite having cerebral palsy.
Mitte, who lives with cerebral palsy, used the success of Breaking Bad to build a platform on disability awareness and inclusion. He served as an ambassador for United Cerebral Palsy and Shriners Children’s as well as president of The Mitte Foundation, which supports philanthropic efforts and community initiatives.
The news of Mitte’s passing comes roughly one week after he appeared on The Joe Vulpis Podcast, where he talked about his experiences with cerebral palsy and Breaking Bad.
Let’s pay our respects to RJ Mitte by sharing some of our favorite scenes, movies, etc. from his filmography. Rest in Peace.
