Robert Pattinson In Negotiations To Play ‘The Batman’

Variety is reporting that Robert Pattinson is in negotiations with Warner Bros. to be the youngest person to play BruceWayne/Batman in Matt Reeves upcoming hot take on The Dark Knight.

If you had told me this 10 years ago, I would have screamed, No way! Not my Batman! But I gotta say after seeing Good Time and having good expectations for High Life, I gotta say this is pretty good casting. Even though I liked where WB was headed with Affleck and his grizzled old Batman, that isn’t happening any more and this is a step in the right direction.

Sources say the deal isn’t final yet but Pattinson is the front runner to play the Caped Crusader, alongside Nicholas Hoult, who recently starred in Tolkien but is  expected to close shortly. Unsurprisingly, Warner Bros. had no comment.

After Pattinson’s Twilight years, I honestly expected him to fizzle out, but he really has proved me wrong and impressed me with his acting and choices of roles. Take that Taylor Lautner!

Not much else is being reported right now, but it’s good to see Matt Reeves, the director of the last two Planet of the Apes sequels (I liked the third better than the second one), choose his own Bruce Wayne after taking over directing duties from Ben Affleck in January 2017. Reeves will announce his official casting soon.

The Batman is expected to hit theaters June 25, 2021.

What do you guys think of this casting? Who would you like to see play The Batman?
