Ryan Reynolds and Shawn Levy Team Up for Time Travel Movie

Skydance is clearly hoping Free Guy will be a smash hit when it opens later this year because they’ve already locked down the director and actor for another project.

Ryan Reynolds is re-teaming with director Shawn Levy for an untitled time travel adventure film for Skydance. The movie started as a spec script by T.S. Nowlin. It was originally titled Our Name is Adam when Tom Cruise was briefly attached to the project. Jonathan Trooper is writing the current draft of the script which sees “Reynolds’ character traveling back in time to get help from his 13-year-old self and encountering his own deceased father along the way.”

Reynolds is on a bit of a hot streak at the moment. After becoming an A-list box office star with Deadpool, the actor has kickstarted other led other franchises like The Hitman’s Wife, Pokemon Detective Pikachu, and 6 Underground. Meanwhile, Levy has directed numerous modern day family classics like Cheaper by the Dozen and the Night at the Museum trilogy. He’s also directed a handful of episodes of Stranger Things. I’m excited to see Free Guy, and as a time travel fan I am definitely excited to see this project come to light.
