‘Happy Death Day’ Director Christopher Landon to Helm ‘Scream 7’

Paramount and Spyglass aren’t finished with the Scream franchise just yet.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, Christopher Landon — best known for directing the slasher films Happy Death Day and Freaky — is attached to direct the upcoming seventh installment in the long-running franchise.

Landon takes over from Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, the filmmaking team known as Radio Silence, who helmed 2022’s Scream and 2023’s Scream VI. The duo are reportedly too busy with their upcoming Universal Monsters movie to return. Instead, they and third group member Chad Villella will act as executive producers on Scream 7. No word yet on who might write the script. James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick were behind the last two films.

A release date has also not been set at this time. We’ll keep you posted.
