Hollywood is officially scrapping the bottom of the barrel. (Yay?)
According to Deadline, 20th Century Studios is developing a reboot of the 1980s classic Working Girl, with Selena Gomez in final negotiations to produce. Ilana Pena will write the script, which will likely end up as a Hulu original film.
Plot details for the remake are scarce, but I’m going to go out on a limb here and say that the remake will likely update and, dare I say, reimagine the original 1988 film that starred Melanie Griffith, Harrison Ford, and Sigourney Weaver. 1988’s Working Girl centered around an ambitious secretary, played by Griffith, who takes on her boss’ identity while the latter is laid up with a broken leg.
No director or actors are attached at this stage. We’ll keep you updated as much as we can.
What do you think about a Working Girl remake? Is it necessary? Will you be watching?
