‘Joker: Folie à Deux’ Gets 2024 Release Date

The Clown of Prince rises as the Batgirl falls.

Deadline is reporting that Warner Bros. has set an October 4, 2024 release for Todd Phillips’ Joker: Folie à Deux. The film will serve as a sequel to 2019’s Joker, which was directed by Phillips and grossed over $1 billion at the global box office.

Joaquin Phoenix will be reprising his role as Arthur Fleck/Joker in the film, and reportedly nabbed a $20 million paycheck for doing so. Lady Gaga is also in talks for the film’s female lead, rumored to be Harley Quinn.

Phillips returns to direct Joker 2 and wrote the script with Joker co-writer Scott Silver. Sources indicate that the upcoming sequel will also be a musical. A superhero musical, huh? I guess that’s one way to get me to watch a sequel to a film I found to be, quite frankly, overrated.

Joker: Folie à Deux opens in theaters on October 4, 2024.
