Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse has finally received a new release date.
During Sony‘s CinemaCon presentation, it was announced that Beyond the Spider-Verse would be released in theaters on June 4, 2027. The animated superhero threequel was originally scheduled to hit theaters in March 2024 but was removed from Sony’s release calendar in July 2023 due to production delays and the actors’ strike.
“We know how important this franchise is to so many people around us. We just could not run it back,” said the filmmaking team of producer Phil Lord and co-directors Bob Persichetti and Justin K. Thompson at CinemaCon (via Variety). “So, we decided we needed to take the time to make sure we got it just right.”
Several first look images from Beyond the Spider-Verse, which Lord claims will be “a massive finale to the trilogy,” were also shared and can be viewed in the gallery below.
What Happens in Beyond the Spider-Verse?
Beyond the Spider-Verse will pick up from the cliffhanger ending of 2023’s Across the Spider-Verse. Lord teased at CinemaCon that Miles Morales will begin the movie as a fugitive on the run from every other spider in the multiverse. “Gwen and his other friends may or may not be enough to help him save the family that’s been the leading part of the entire system,” Lord added.
Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse hits theaters on June 4, 2027.
