The Hollywood Reporter has just broken the exclusive news that Taika Waititi is returningto the MCU to write and direct the fourth installment of the Thor series.
While this is great news for Thor fans, what does it mean for Akira? Warner Bros. has been developing a live adaptation of the Japanese manga for a long time now and was penciled for a May 21, 2021 release. Unfortunately issues with the script forced Akira to push back its start date for filming, causing a scheduling conflict for Waititi to do both movies leaving things unclear for Akira at the moment.
While Thor: Ragnarok felt totally different from the two previous entries in that series, it was easily the best one and I’m really glad to have Waititi back. I think that he brought out the best in Chris Hemsworth and really gave Thor a new relateable persona.
Hopefully Thor is still fat. I just wonder if the Guardians will have any involvement in this one.
