The Batman Part II has just been hit with its latest delay.

According to Deadline, Warner Bros. and DC Studios released a statement today on production pausing on The Batman sequel due to director and co-writer Matt Reeves stepping away for personal reasons.

“Production on The Batman Part II has been temporarily paused while Matt Reeves focuses on a family matter,” it said. “Matt has the full support of DC Studios and we look forward to continuing the journey soon.”

Before the pause, filming had been underway in London since May 2026. Plot details remain under wraps for Part II, although it’s believed to be set during the winter after the flooding of Gotham City.

Robert Pattinson is back as Bruce Wayne / Batman, as are Jeffrey Wright as Jim Gordon, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, Colin Farrell as the Penguin, Jayme Lawson as Mayor Bella Reál, and Gil Perez-Abraham as GCPD officer Martinez.

The Batman Part II is currently scheduled to hit theaters on February 18, 2028. It is too early to say whether the stoppage will have an effect on the release date.
