The Russo Brothers to Produce Live-Action ‘Hercules’ Remake for Disney

Disney is back at it again with another live-action remake.

The studio is teaming up with the Russo Bros for a live-action remake of Hercules, its 1997 animated classic. Dave Callaham, who is writing Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, is handling the script.

THR confirmed the news after Disinsider reported it first. No casting or director have been announced, and the project is in very early stages of development. However, the Russo Bros being attached is very optimistic and could be a good sign for what is to come for the project.

A part of me wonders if Disney and the Russos might end up partnering with Marvel Studios and combining the Disney version of Hercules with the Marvel one. Kill two birds with one stone. It would certainly be interesting to see a MCU musical. But let’s be honest, we’re going to get something reminiscent of the 1997 film which I’m perfectly fine with. I think that film is pretty good, but there is certainly room for improvement.

What are your thoughts on the Russos involvement with Hercules? Is this a Disney film you were waiting to be remade? Tell us in the comments!
