‘The Stand’ Trailer: CBS All Access Gets in on the Stephen King Craze

CBS All Access released an official trailer for The Stand, the upcoming adaptation of the Stephen King novel of the same name, during the show’s NYCC panel. Let’s take a look.

For those fearing the upcoming series will retread similar ground of the 1994 mini-series adaptation, you can rest at ease. The writers have updated the series to reflect our current times, and the series will feature a brand new ending written by King himself. That will certainly be enough to get the millions of Stephen King fans to at least check out the finale.

The series also boasts an insane ensemble cast that includes Whoopi Goldberg, James Marsden, Greg Kinnear, Amber Heard, Alexander Skarsgård, Jovan Adepo, Odessa Young, and Owen Teague.

Plot Synopsis:

King’s apocalyptic vision of a world decimated by plague and embroiled in an elemental struggle between good and evil. The fate of mankind rests on the frail shoulders of the 108-year-old Mother Abagail and a handful of survivors. Their worst nightmares are embodied by a man with a lethal smile and unspeakable powers: Randall Flagg, the nefarious ‘Dark Man.’

The Stand premieres December 17, 2020 on CBS All Access.
