Tom Cruise and Christopher McQuarrie are staying in business together.
According to Deadline, Cruise and McQuarrie are in the early stages of setting up three very different projects: “an original song and dance-style musical they’ll craft as a star vehicle for Cruise, […] another original action film with franchise potential, and they are also fixated on Les Grossman.” Yes, the two want to do something with the character Cruise played in Tropic Thunder.
McQuarrie has written (or will write) all three scripts in collaboration with Cruise. No production timelines have been set at this time. The two are still busy working on Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning: Part Two and Crusie also has the untitled space film in development at Universal. Doug Liman will direct that film, with McQuarrie producing. If successful, the movie will be the first shot in space.
