Tom Cruise to Star in Untitled Alejandro G. Iñárritu Movie

Tom Cruise is ready to give action movies a rest.

Per Deadline, Cruise is set to star in an untitled movie from director Alejandro Iñárritu, which is expected to end up at Warner Bros. and Legendary Entertainment. This would mark the first English-language feature for Iñárritu since his 2015 smash hit The Revenant, and the first movie for Cruise, who will also produce, following his recently announced partnership with WB.

The untitled movie is produced and directed by Iñárritu with a script he co-wrote with Sabina Berman as well as Alexander Dinelaris and Nicolas Giacobone, his co-writers on Birdman. This also marks the first film for Cruise (who will also produce) following the announcement of his strategic partnership with Warner Bros last month. It’s expected Legendary will also produce.

Plot details are being kept under wraps, but this is surely being viewed by Cruise as a chance to finally snag an Oscar. While he has never won, he has earned four Oscar nominations, three of which came from acting. Given Inarritu’s track record at the Academy Awards, Cruise is in good hands.

We’ll keep you posted as more information becomes available.
