‘Toy Story 4’ Adds Comedy Legends Betty White, Carol Burnett, Carl Reiner, and Mel Brooks

Pixar has been managing to secure the voices of numerous comedians over the years dating back to the first Toy Story. For the third sequel to that iconic animated delight, Pixar has gone all out and managed to rope in four comedic talents from yesteryear. Betty White, Carol Burnett, Carl Reiner, and Mel Brooks, who need no introduction (and if they do, for shame on you), have been added as baby toys.

USA Today reported on the casting. Burnett plays a chair named “Chairol Burnett,” Brooks plays an elephant called “Melephant Brooks,” White plays a tiger named “Bitey White,” and Reiner plays a rhino named “Carl Reineroceros.” Yeah, Toy Story 4 isn’t exactly being subtle in letting the audience know who’s voicing who.

Toy Story 4 begins with Woody realizing that he is no longer Bonnie’s favorite toy. He ends up being tosses in the closet where he meets the baby toys. According to director Josh Cooley:

“They’ve done their job and are just kind of waiting around for what happens next. And now that Woody’s in there, they’re accepting him into their circle and he’s already pushing against that…Sometimes toys fall in and out of favor. I look at my own kid and stuff that was the favorite toy yesterday is now in the closet. We wanted to show that Woody’s new life in this bedroom is not exactly what he thought it was going to be.”

Not that Toy Story 4 wasn’t already on my list of anticipated films, but the fact Carol Burnett, Mel Brooks, and Betty White are going to be making cameos is just the icing on the cake. Brooks and Burnett are comedy geniuses creating a wide catalogue of classics, while Betty White continues to be an absolute comedy badass to this very day.

Toy Story 4 arrives in theaters on June 21, 2019.

What are your thoughts on these four comedians lending their voices to the film?
