MOVIES WATCHED THIS WEEK

Brittany Runs a Marathon (2019)

“A young woman decides to make positive changes in her life by training for the New York City Marathon.”

A charming movie that I was surprised by. Jillian Bell does an excellent job here as someone who decides to turn around her life by ditching some toxic living by simply going for a run one day. It’s funny and has a solid message. It was a bit up and down at times but definitely worth a watch. (3.5/5)

Narc (2002)

“When the trail goes cold on a murder investigation of a policeman an undercover narcotics officer is lured back to the force to help solve the case.”

It has been a while since I have seen this but after putting it as one of our most underrated movies, I decided to give it a rewatch. Damn, Narc is a stylish and gloomy cop thriller with some great performances, especially from Ray Liotta. He is a bulldozer in one of his best roles. The opening scene is worth a watch alone. (4.25/5)

Star Wars: The Phantom Menace (1999)

“Two Jedi escape a hostile blockade to find allies and come across a young boy who may bring balance to the Force, but the long dormant Sith resurface to claim their old glory.”

I will say that this is one of the greatest movies to nap too. I’m not much of a napper but this put me out for almost two hours for one of the best naps of my life. (Nap/5)

Star Wars: Attack of the Clones (2002)

“Ten years after initially meeting, Anakin Skywalker shares a forbidden romance with Padmé Amidala, while Obi-Wan Kenobi investigates an assassination attempt on the senator and discovers a secret clone army crafted for the Jedi.”

Thanks to Disney Plus, I have decided to rewatch the Star Wars Saga but in chronological order (except Solo) for the first time. Waking up refreshed from my nap, I was quickly bored to tears by Episode 2. Ewan McGregor does just enough as Obi-Wan to keep me somewhat engaged throughout. Watching Yoda vs Dooku is always fun though. (2.75/5)
