What is Daniel Day-Lewis’ Best Performance?

Daniel Day-Lewis takes on one of America's most famous presidents in Lincoln.

Our mission at SAW is to foster conversations about this thing we all love (or love to hate): film/TV. Many of our features are designed with you in mind. Your opinions, to be more to the point. You have ’em. We want to hear ’em.

Question of the Day (QOTD) is exactly what it sounds like. It’s a film/TV-related question that we put to you, the reader. The comments section below is like the feedback box at work; except, in this example, we actually read what you write and care about what you have to say.

First there was Harrison Ford then Robert De Niro. Now I want to task the screenagers with looking at an acclaimed actor who has constantly been regarded as one of the best actors of the last fifty years.

With six Academy Award Best Actor nominations (and three wins!!!) under his belt, the question I ask today is: what is Daniel Day-Lewis’ best performance?

I remember watching My Left Foot for school and being blown away by Day-Lewis’ performance. It was his first nomination and win at the Academy Awards and I still think my favorite performance of his. Lincoln is also good, I cannot deny that, but I just like his performance in My Left Foot more.

So what about you, folks? What Daniel Day-Lewis performance do you think is his best?

I’ll see you in the trenches.
