What Was Your Favorite Show of 2020?

Our mission at SAW is to foster conversations about this thing we all love (or love to hate): film/TV. Many of our features are designed with you in mind. Your opinions, to be more to the point. You have ’em. We want to hear ’em.

Question of the Day (QOTD) is exactly what it sounds like. It’s a film/TV-related question that we put to you, the reader. The comments section below is like the feedback box at work; except, in this example, we actually read what you write and care about what you have to say.

We’re currently running our Best of 2020 series where each SAW writer talks about their five favorite films of last year. But what about TV? So many great shows premiered last year or had new critically acclaimed seasons debut. We don’t talk about TV and streaming shows much around these parts, but they deserve a mention (at least once a year).

So the question I ask today is: what was your favorite show of 2020?

Ted Lasso.

I enjoyed Ted Lasso so much that I had to write a review about it to get as many people to see this great Apple TV+ series. I managed to watch quite a bit of TV last year and while there were definitely some notable seasons (The Good Place, Big Mouth, Jurassic World Camp Cretaceous), nothing really struck me like Ted Lasso did. It is just a warm, charming, and funny series about perseverance and giving it your all.

Seriously, go watch Ted Lasso. It’s worth subscribing to the barely-any-content streaming service that is Apple TV+.

So what about you, folks? What was your favorite show that released new episodes in 2020?

I’ll see you in the trenches.
