‘Antlers’ Trailer: Who is the Real Monster?

Kerri Russell plays a teacher who discovers one her students is hiding a terrifying secret in the trailer for Scott Cooper’s horror movie Antlers.

Back in August, Fox Searchlight dropped a teaser for this Guillermo del Toro produced thriller. The teaser provided a taste of the film’s creepy atmosphere and I enjoyed that they continue to play things close to the chest in this full trailer. However, we are given just enough to make us question what or who is the monster of the story.

Will this be del Toro’s normal portrayal of sympathetic monsters that we are used to (see The Shape of Water or last August’s Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, which he co-wrote) or will there be something more sinister at hand? Cooper has explored themes of family and the violent side of human nature in 2017’s Hostiles. Perhaps we will get a mixture of both. All in all, Antlers continues to intrigue with its marketing and seems like one to keep an eye out for next year.

Plot Synopsis:

A small-town Oregon teacher (Keri Russell) and her brother Paul (Jesse Plemons), the local sheriff, become entwined with a young student Lucas (Jeremy T. Thomas) harboring a dangerous secret with frightening consequences.

Antlers is scheduled for release on April 17, 2020.

What do you guys think of the new trailer and the marketing strategy? Eager to see what Antlers has in store?
