Marvel Studios may have found its new Beast for its X-Men reboot.

According to Knight Edge Media, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms star Peter Claffey has been cast as Hank McCoy / Beast in the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe movie.

Charles Melton was originally the frontrunner to play the role until he dropped out of the running to star as Kakashi Hatake in the Naruto live-action movie. Claffey’s casting comes several months after The InSneider reported that he was being rumored for Beast.

While Claffey will be the main Beast of the MCU, the fan-favorite mutant has already appeared in the shared universe, with Kelsey Grammer reprising the role from X-Men: The Last Stand in 2023’s The Marvels. Grammer will also appear as Beast in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday. This version of Beast is an older variant of the one Claffey will play who lives in an alternate universe (that is home to other FoX-Men characters).

Claffey joins an ensemble that currently includes Christopher Abbott as Professor X, Sadie Sink as Jean Grey, Adam Driver as Mr. Sinister, Samara Weaving as Emma Frost, Inde Navarrette as Rogue, Kit Connor as Cyclops, Maya Boyd as Storm, and Asa Germann as Angel.

Jake Schreier is directing the untitled X-Men reboot, which is slated to hit theaters on May 5, 2028.
