Another key member of the X-Men has just been cast for the next phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Asa Germann is in final talks for the role of Warren Worthington III / Angel. He had previously been rumored for the role of Cyclops, which went to Kit Connor. THR states that Marvel Studios was impressed enough with Germann’s audition that they offered him the role of Angel.
The superhero genre is familiar territory for Germann. He previously starred in Prime Video’s The Boys spinoff Gen V. He was also seen earlier this year in Scream 7.
Created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, Angel was introduced in the very first issue of X-Men back in 1963 as one of the five original X-Men. He has feathered wings on his back that grant him the ability to fly.
Angel has appeared twice before on the big screen. Ben Foster played him in 2006’s X-Men: The Last Stand, while Ben Hardy played him in 2016’s X-Men: Apocalypse.
The X-Men Continues to Build Out Its Cast
Germann’s casting comes roughly a month after Marvel announced the first seven actors for its X-Men reboot at D23. Germann joins an ensemble that currently includes Christopher Abbott as Professor X, Sadie Sink as Jean Grey, Adam Driver as Mr. Sinister, Samara Weaving as Emma Frost, Inde Navarrette as Rogue, Kit Connor as Cyclops, and Maya Boyd as Storm.
Jake Schreier is directing the untitled X-Men reboot, which is slated to hit theaters on May 5, 2028.
