Marvel fans haven’t seen the last of acclaimed thespian Trevor Slattery.
According to Variety, Ben Kingsley has closed a deal to return as Trevor Slattery in Wonder Man, an upcoming Disney+ series that will focus on the Marvel hero, whose real name is Simon Williams. This will be the third time Kingsley has portrayed Slattery in the Marvel Cinematic Universe after 2013’s Iron Man 3 and 2021’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.
Variety has noted that “Kingsley returning as Slattery lends credence to reports that the show is intended to be a Hollywood satire” since both Slattery and Wonder Man are both actors. No word yet on how the character will factor into the series, but Kingsley is expected to play a major role.
Andrew Guest is the head writer and executive producer on Wonder Man, which Destin Daniel Cretton is developing at Disney+ as part of an overall deal with Marvel Studios.
Kingsley is the first official actor announced for the project. We’ll keep you posted as more information on the series (including who will play the titular hero) gets announced, which I’m expecting will happen next month during Marvel’s D23 presentation.
Are you excited to see more of Ben Kingsley’s Trevor Slattery? How do you think he will factor into Wonder Man?
