Following a press screening of Black Adam, the first social media reactions for the upcoming DC Extended Universe installment are here!
You can find a roundup of Twitter early reactions below. And yes, they are largely positive (as Twitter reactions normally are), but I don’t care. Let’s see what people have to say.
#BlackAdam is a worthy new piece of the DC puzzle, but not the savior it promised.
A surprising compressed timeline keeps the action exciting & pace propulsive, but also turns its many (many) themes, plots, & characters into fancy window dressing. It's messy in a watchable way. pic.twitter.com/uwZUb2hbiM

#BlackAdam struggles to find its footing at first but once the Justice Society enters it becomes more fun to watch. Dwayne Johnson’s anti-hero presents an intriguing new dynamic to the DCEU. Solid visual effects. Weak villain. Post-credits scene got the biggest reaction of all. pic.twitter.com/qbVmWkYLjv

.@TheRock is terrific in #BlackAdam, which includes a hearty amount of real world touchstones (most affecting is it reinforces the need for heroes in bleak times). Director Juame Collet-Serra lays out building blocks for a larger, grand universe. Action is lively & BIG in scale. pic.twitter.com/pDBkSHRDrI

also get ready for @AldisHodge as Hawkman. He was fantastic in the movie and his fight scene with
is so good. pic.twitter.com/SsPY1wl4QxSpoiler— Steven Weintraub (@colliderfrosty) October 13, 2022

#BlackAdam is DC's most action-packed film to date. It's a non-stop thrill ride that is all about spectacle, and it knows it. Ther3 is barely anytime to breath, or even talk. @TheRock is a perfect Black Adam, plus Pierce Brosnon is a standout. The film will leave fans buzzing! pic.twitter.com/HxCYYNw71w

Pierce Brosnan kills it as Doctor Fate. He steals scenes. Charismatic as ever.
Aldis Hodge’s Hawkman leaves a lot of meat on the bone for future stories to dig deeper into. His action scenes are terrific.#BlackAdam relies on action, lands some humor, and it’s bad-ass. pic.twitter.com/zYEdqIY7zO

There is some really excellent world building in this film – some of the best we’ve seen from DC. Comic book films that have momentum, emotion and a strong layered mythology are always the most entertaining to me. #BlackAdam also left me wanting more, which is what you want imo pic.twitter.com/wJUXAtuEdI

Okay, I’m liking what I’m seeing here. Actual world-building in a DC film?! That’s almost unheard of! Dwayne Johnson, Aldis Hodge, and Pierce Brosnan seem to be getting a lot of praise for their roles as Black Adam, Hawkman, and Doctor Fate, respectively, and good on them. Those are definitely the three characters I’m most excited to see in this film.
I’ll be checking out Black Adam on the big screen when it opens in theaters on October 21, 2022.
Will you be seeing Black Adam or will you wait for it to inevitably hit HBO Max?
