And just like that, summer has come to a close and thank God because this one has been a scorcher. With the kids back at school and as we get back into the rhythm of normalcy, there’s always time to watch some stuff on streaming. Here’s what I’ve been checking out (or rewatching) lately.
HBO Max: Half Man (2026)
After the explosive success of Baby Reindeer, Richard Gadd created another mini series that is somehow even more anxiety-inducing and heartbreaking. Following the lives of two stepbrothers, Half Man is a story told over snapshots throughout years of a toxic relationship. I’m surprised this hasn’t gotten more attention, especially with its recent Emmy nomination, though it is admittedly a very heavy watch. It’s so rough in moments that I might advise those with sibling issues to steer clear altogether or risk watching something so raw and upsetting that it will likely ruin your week. If something like that sounds right up your alley though, check this one out.

Hulu: Spider-Man (2002)
Hey, did you know ALL of the Sam Raimi Spider-Man movies are on Hulu? I didn’t until this past week, but I’ve had a blast rewatching them. Tobey Maguire brings such a human dweeb energy to the role that I love, and the combo with the Danny Elfman score in the first two films is a stroke of pure genius. If you somehow haven’t seen these movies, what the heck are you even doing? Go watch them right now!
FOR FANS OF: Batman (1989), Batman Returns, Into The Spiderverse
Peacock: Black Bag (2025)
I was a big fan of this one when it first came out, and I still think it’s underrated. This Soderbergh original story follows an MI6 agent as he suspects that his wife (also an agent) is a mole in the agency. The tension in some of the scenes is just unmatched, and features a real standout performance from Regé-Jean Page (who I still think should be the next James Bond). Soderbergh has still got it, and for folks craving a fun thriller, it’s a perfect weekend movie.
FOR FANS OF: Oceans 11; Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy
Prime Video: Fallout (2024 – present)
Full disclosure, I have never played a single Fallout game. I knew basically nothing about the world and the setting, but honestly, watching this show made me want to check them out. Fallout is about a post-apocalyptic United States, survived mostly by ghouls (those poisoned by radiation) and humans who survived in fallout shelters manufactured by the corporation Vault-Tec. The show is working with a solid amount of lore from the games, and tells an original story with some fantastic performances particularly Walton Goggins and Kyle MacLachlan. It’s insanely fun and contains some mysteries and twists that definitely keep you locked in. Whether you’re a fan of the games or new like I was, it’s a very solid watch.
FOR FANS OF: The Expanse; Scavengers Reign
Netflix: Aggretsuko (2018 – 2023)
What if Hello Kitty had a desk job and sang screamo to deal with the stress of corporate life? An actual Sanrio licensed show, Aggretsuko follows Retsuko and her friends through all the stresses and quirks of adult 9-5 existence. On paper, it honestly sounds like something that shouldn’t exist, but it really really works. The characters are genuinely funny and the situations are a little too relatable. With 15-minute episodes, this is an easy one to check out and see if it’s your thing.
