DC Films has multiple projects in development, but three are currently in the casting stage: Black Adam, Shazam! Fury of the Gods, and The Flash. Let’s find out which actors have joined which projects!
Pierce Brosnan has joined Black Adam in the role of Dr. Fate, the superhero identity of “Kent Nelson, the son of an archaeologist who makes contact with Nabu the Wise and learns sorcery from him, before gaining the golden helmet that marks him as Dr. Fate.” This was the last member of the JSA that still needed to be cast. Brosnan joins a cast that includes Dwayne Johnson, Noah Centineo, Aldis Hodge, Quintessa Swindell, and Marwan Kenzari.
The upcoming The Flash movie has surrounded Ezra Miller’s Barry Allen with a family and love interest. Ron Livingston has been hired to play Henry Allen, Barry’s father, after Billy Crudup had to drop out due to scheduling conflicts with The Morning Show. Maribel Verdú will play Barry’s mother Nora Allen while Kiersey Clemons has closed a new deal to appear as journalist (and Barry’s future wife) Iris West. She filmed a brief cameo for Justice League which was cut in the 2017 version, but restored in Zack Snyder’s Justice League.
Livingston, Verdú, and Clemons join a cast that includes Miller, Ian Loh (as young Barry Allen), Rudy Mancuso, Saoirse-Monica Jackson, Ben Affleck (as Batman), Michael Keaton (permitting COVID-19 is under control), and Sasha Calle (as Supergirl). The film is gearing up for a spring-summer shoot in England.
Lastly, Helen Mirren has closed a deal to play the villain Hespera, a daughter of Atlas, in Shazam! Fury of the Gods, the sequel to 2019 film Shazam! It’s nice to see Mirren choose fun roles in her old age. I don’t think anyone ten years ago ever expected to see her driving fast cars with Vin Diesel or fighting Zachary Levi as a couple of DC Comics Gods.
Mirren joins Rachel Zelger as new castmembers to board the sequel.
That’s it for DCEU film projects! Which actor are you most excited to see in a DC film? Tell us down in the comments!
