Disney Delays Four Marvel Movies, Dates ‘Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes’; Warner Bros. Moves ‘Dune: Part 2’ Up Two Weeks

Disney has updated its release calendar and made a bunch of Marvel fans angry in the process.

Four upcoming titles from the Marvel Cinematic Universe have been delayed. First on the move is Blade, which shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise given production was pushed back following the departure of director Bassam Tariq. The film, which will star Mahershala Ali as Blade, has moved from November 3, 2023 to September 6, 2024.

But wait, Deadpool 3 was supposed to come out that day. Yes, it was. Sorry guys, but you’re going to have to wait a couple more months before seeing Hugh Jackman back as Wolverine. The threequel is now set to open in theaters on November 8, 2024.

Now, wait a damn minute! That was when Fantastic Four was going to hit cinemas. The hits just keep on coming, guys! I don’t know what to say! The highly anticipated reboot of Marvel’s First Family, with WandaVision director Matt Shakman attached to direct, is now slated to open on February 14, 2025. Guys, take your gals to see Fantastic Four on Valentine’s Day. I promise you they will hate that idea.

Finally, Avengers: Secret Wars, the culmination of Marvel’s Multiverse Saga, has moved to May 1, 2026, back from November 7, 2025. I think we all saw this coming sooner or later. Releasing two Avengers films just six months apart always seemed like a strange idea.

Oh yeah, Disney has dated some other films. Searchlight’s Chevalier, a biopic of musician Chevalier de Saint-Georges, hits theaters on April 7, 2023. 20th Century Studios’ A Haunting in Venice, the latest Agatha Christie adaptation, will open on September 15, 2023. Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes will grace the big screen on May 24, 2024, meaning that it will open the same weekend as Warner Bros.Mad Max: Fury Road prequel Furiosa.

Since I mentioned WB, I’ll add that the studio quickly moved Dune: Part Two to Blade‘s old date of November 3, 2023. The upcoming sequel was previously set to open on November 17, 2023.

That’s it for now! What films are you sad to see get delayed?
