Breaking from his typical sardonic movie reviews to deliver a long form series covering a single film, Your Movie Sucks’s essay series ‘The Genius of Synecdoche New York’ is a comprehensive look at Charlie Kauffman’s meta film debut. The video unravels all of the films many levels and breaks down the meaning behind its seemingly bizarre symbolism. While not complete (the series is ongoing and has covered about half of the film so far), it’s still worth checking out for the amount of information it packs within its five parts and because it will most likely make you want to watch the film again, and any excuse to rewatch Synechdoche New York is a good excuse.

What did you think about Your Movie Sucks’s video? Are you a fan of Synecdoche New York or the work of Charlie Kauffman?
