Talk about an upgrade. Paramount‘s upcoming G.I. Joe reboot has just cast its new Duke.
According to Deadline, Bradley Cooper is set to star as Duke, the leader of the titular military unit in the untitled G.I. Joe movie from Danny McBride. Channing Tatum previously played the character in the 2009 film G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra and its 2013 sequel Retaliation.
McBride will make his feature directorial debut on the G.I. Joe movie. He also wrote the screenplay for the movie with Jeff Fradley and John Carcieri. Plot details are under wraps, although it’s confirmed to take place in Springfield, which is a town that’s secretly all COBRA.
Cooper remains one of the busiest actors in Hollywood, both in front and behind the camera. He is currently working on the untitled Ocean’s Eleven prequel as its writer, director, and male lead. McBride’s script must be solid, because after reading it and meeting with McBride, Cooper wanted to star in the movie.
The untitled G.I. Joe movie will be a reboot and reimagining of the franchise. It takes the place of the previously announced crossover film with Transformers that is no longer in development.
Are you stoked to see Bradley Cooper in a G.I. Joe movie? Who else would you cast?
