SlashFilm is reporting that during the WarnerMedia panel for the Television Critics Association, details were revealed by HBO Max Chief Content Officer Kevin Reilly about the upcoming Green Lantern series.
Greg Berlanti is set to produce the series which will unravel the origins of two Earth bound Green Lanterns and the space bound Green Lantern, Sinestro, over the course of several decades.
I can’t wait to see this on the DC Universe streaming service … oh wait, my mistake it’s not on DC Universe, because its on HBO Max. Makes perfect sense to me. You do plan on having DC heroes on your DC streaming service, right?
The DC Universe streaming service is home to the live-action series’ Titans, Doom Patrol and the cancelled Swamp Thing. According to Reilly, Warner has no plans to scrap the DC service since it is “evolving” and they “intend to keep it going at least for the immediate future”. However it is difficult to maintain a niche streaming service especially when you allow other services to develop series for fan favorite characters!
But wait, Reilly is considering allowing the DC Universe subscribers a preview or even a day to watch the entire season/series. Alas, Reilly stated, “We haven’t worked out the mechanic of that yet”. So maybe don’t hold your breath? If you make a statement like that, it will only serve to push subscribers out of the service. I’m not quite sure where Warner Bros hires its people from? Are they all formerly unemployed circus clowns?
The Green Lantern series is in development for HBO Max
Like Jack Burton always says, “Give me your best shot. I can take it”. Post your rage below, Red Lanterns! I’m going to take a nap.
