Hawley’s ‘Star Trek’ Film to be a Traditional Trek

SlashFilm has reported that new Star Trek 4 writer/director Noah Hawley will be shifting the focus away from the J.J. Abrams and Justin Lin big budget space battle laden takes on Star Trek.

Hawley promises a return to the original tones of Star Trek. Though no story or script has been written, he has been pitching ideas to Paramount Pictures.

It is unclear which, if any, of the cast from Abrams soft-reboot of the franchise will return for Hawley’s film. This has been quite a roller coaster few months for Trekkies with CBS All Access’ Star Trek: Picard series set to premiere on January 23rd and word that Quentin Tarantino’s Star Trek film was not moving forward. Additionally, franchise boss Alex Kurtzman says that there are still two unannounced Star Trek series in the works.

I’m curious about Hawley’s take on the franchise, which time-line will it take place in? Which crew? There are a lot of possibilities! Given Trek’s propensity for time travel, and if it’s anything like Hawley’s Marvel series Legion, will I need to take a hallucinogenic to watch it? These are questions I need answered!

Paramount Pictures’ Star Trek 4 is currently in developement.

Thoughts on the direction of the Star Trek franchise? Curious to see how many more “T” words I can put in a title? Let’s discuss it below!
