The Man of Steel has officially become the Man of Tomorrow.
Henry Cavill has officially announced his DC Extended Universe return as Clark Kent / Superman following an uncredited cameo appearance in —SPOILERS— Black Adam.
“A very small taste of what’s to come, my friends. The dawn of hope renewed. Thank you for your patience, it will be rewarded,” Cavill wrote, captioning an Instagram video that saw him confirm his return as the Man of Steel in future DCEU films.
Cavill first appeared as Superman in 2013’s Man of Steel. He returned for the 2016 film Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and both cuts of Justice League (2017 and 2021). However, a change in management at DC Films in 2018 resulted in Cavill’s Superman taking an extended hiatus from Hollywood. Superman continued to appear in DCEU projects, but he was portrayed by stand-ins that obscured the character’s Cavill-less face (Shazam! and Peacemaker).
Cavill’s return comes as Warner Bros. begins developing an official Man of Steel 2, which will continue the adventures of a new, more optimistic Superman. Does the DCEU finally have its shit together? I guess we’ll find out soon enough.
Are you excited to see Cavill return as Superman for multiple upcoming DC projects? Do you think a Man of Steel sequel will actually get off the ground this time?
