Javier Bardem & Harry Styles in Talks for ‘The Little Mermaid’

A couple more actors are looking at going under the sea for Disney.

Deadline reports that Oscar winner Javier Bardem and Harry Styles are in talks to join the upcoming live-action remake The Little Mermaid. Bardem would play Ariel’s father, King Triton, while Styles would play Ariel’s love interest, Prince Eric.

Halle Bailey has been cast as Ariel. Jacob Tremblay and Awkwafina have been cast as Ariel’s friends Flounder and Scuttle, and Melissa McCarthy will play the villain Ursula.

Rob Marshall is directing the live-action/CGI feature from a script by David Magee.

I’m totally down for both of these castings to get finalized. Styles held his own against a group of veterans in Christopher Nolan’s Dunkirk, despite his small role. I’d like to see what Styles could accomplish with a larger role. Of course, any film that can snag Bardem is worth the watch.

Do you think Harry Styles should be Prince Eric? Think Bardem can grow a worthy King Triton beard?
