New ‘Uncharted’ Images: I’m Starting to Get My Hopes Up

After numerous starts and stops, a feature-length adaptation of the popular PlayStation video game series Uncharted is finally happening. Late last year, we received our first official look at Tom Holland in the role of professional treasure hunter Nathan Drake.

We still don’t know exactly what sort of adventure Holland’s Drake will be getting up to as the film will be a prequel set before any of the video games. However, we do have some new images courtesy of the film’s official Twitter. They were released alongside the caption “A new year. A new adventure awaits.”

Take a look at the new Uncharted movie photos below.

I want to remain cautiously optimistic, but I’m finding that it is getting harder with every new image drop. I think Holland looks like a faithful representation of Drake, and these images tease a globe-trotting adventure that I cannot wait to watch!

I have always enjoyed a good action-adventure flick. It’s the main reason why I love Indiana Jones, National Treasure, and The Adventures of Tintin. It is fascinating to watch watch characters enter ancient ruins and solve puzzles. That’s a big part of the Uncharted games as well, so I’m glad it looks like that is going to be a big part of the film adaptation.

In addition to Holland, Mark Wahlberg, Antonio Banderas, Tati Gabrielle, and Sophia Ali are also part of the cast. We have yet to see any first look images of these cast members, but I know fans are desperate to see what Wahlberg will look like as Sully.

Uncharted hits theaters July 16, 2021.

What do you think of the new images? When do you think we might get our first trailer?
