Peyton Reed Back For ‘Ant-Man 3’

The Hollywood Reporter has news that Peyton Reed will be returning to direct the third instalment of the MCU’s Ant-Man franchise. Though not much else is known about the project other than it will delve more into the Quantum Realm, details are being kept under Kevin Feige‘s hat.

Star Paul Rudd is expected to reprise his role as Scott Lang/Ant-Man with Evangeline Lilly, Michelle Pfeiffer and Michael Douglas also returning. The project is tentatively expected to start late 2020 or early 2021 for a 2022 release.

In an interview with Collider, co-star Michael Douglas slipped that he expected to begin filming in January of 2021. However, if Michael Douglas suddenly disappears after letting this out, I’m sure Catherine Zeta-Jones will join forces with Antonio Banderas to find her husband (hint: Feige has him).

Ant-Man and the Wasp

The Ant-Man franchise has been a welcome addition to the MCU since the first film debuted in 2015. Its been the quirky relative to the somewhat serious Captain America and Iron Man franchises.

If the current reporting is correct and we will get further exploration into the Quantum Realm coupled with the release of Dr. Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, we might get more “alternate timelines” and possibly the villain Kang. I’m still not too crazy about the 5-year leap forward due to Avengers: Endgame and Captain America sitting around with Peggy Carter. Eh, what do I know? I know my name isn’t Kevin Feige and I don’t have a collection of cool Marvel hats.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe continues with Dr. Strange in the Multiverse of Madness in 2021 and Ant-Man 3 expected for 2022.
