As usual, Marvel Studios made the most of its Hall H presentation at San Diego Comic-Con.
The studio announced that Ryan Gosling would officially star in a Ghost Rider movie, which will be released in theaters in 2028. Gosling has been vocal about wanting to play the Spirit of Vengeance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He even said as much after coming out on stage.
“You know, this is a character I’ve wanted to play for a long time,” Gosling said.
It’s unclear right now whether he’s playing Johnny Blaze or Danny Ketch, although the former seems more likely. Shawn Levy will direct the movie from a screenplay by Jonathan Tropper. Levy recently directed Gosling in next year’s Star Wars: Starfighter, also written by Tropper.
Marvel Studios also announced that David Jonsson (Alien: Romulus, The Last Walk) will be the next Black Panther. He will make his debut as an adult version of T’Challa II / Toussaint, who was introduced as a child in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, in Black Panther III.
Ryan Coogler is returning to direct the third Black Panther movie, which will hit cinemas on December 15, 2028. It will be shot entirely on larger format celluloid film — a first for the MCU.
