Sony Delays Marvel Movie ‘Morbius’ to April

Morbius has been delayed… for the SEVENTH TIME in two years.

That’s right, Sony has once again pushed back the release date for Morbius, it’s upcoming Marvel film that may or may not be set in the same universe as its Venom films. The film will now open in theaters on April 1, 2022.

For anyone keeping track, here are all the previous release dates Morbius has occupied at one point or another:

  • July 10, 2020
  • July 31, 2020
  • March 19, 2021
  • October 8, 2021
  • January 21, 2022
  • January 28, 2022

According to Deadline, it looks like Spider-Man: No Way Home may be responsible for the delay. Its continued box office success means Sony would rather use the screens previously saved for Morbius on Spider-Man: No Way Home. Can anyone give me a better example of a studio having little to no faith in one of its upcoming projects?

In Morbius, Jared Leto portrays the enigmatic antihero Michael Morbius. Dangerously ill with a rare blood disorder and determined to save others suffering his same fate, Dr. Morbius attempts a desperate gamble. While at first it seems to be a radical success, a darkness inside him is unleashed. Will good override evil—or will Morbius succumb to his mysterious new urges?

We’ll have to wait until April now to see if Morbius is as bad as the trailers make it out to look, but I say just keep on delaying it. Who actually wants to see this? If you’re one of the five that do, please tell me why down in the comments below!
