‘Star Wars’ Rumor: Cameron Monaghan’s Cal Kestis to Lead New Live-Action Series

Here’s a Star Wars rumor that’s worth discussing.

According to Kristian Harloff, Lucasfilm may be developing a live-action series centered around Cal Kestis, the lead character in the video game Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. Cameron Monaghan, who portrayed the character in the video game, will reportedly reprise the role (which makes sense since the character was designed to look exactly like the Shameless and Gotham actor).

Here’s what Harloff had to say:

“Rumor, rumor, rumor… Have to say that – not confirmed! Got this from someone I’ve trusted in the past, tells me this is a thing… The rumor itself, at the moment, is that there is a Cal Kestis show in the works for Disney Plus. The rumor is that [the actor Cameron Monaghan has] actually signed on to play the character from Jedi: Fallen Order in a live-action series for Disney Plus. There’s no production dates set, but my source tells me that this is happening.”

I have no clue who Harloff is, but Star Wars News Net seems to think he’s a legit scooper. Honestly, it makes sense for the character to jump into live-action since there’s a great performer already behind the role. Lucasfilm also seems hellbent on only developing projects set between the prequel and sequel trilogies, so why not!

In Fallen Order, Cal Kestis was “a Jedi Padawan who took to hiding as a scrapper on the planet Bracca, a place where the Empire disassembled parts from decommissioned Republic and Confederacy ships. When Kestis is forced to use his powers to save his friend’s life, both the Inquisitors and a group of Jedi sympathizers find Cal Kestis as he escapes the planet. Cal spends the story coming to terms with what’s happened and searching for a way to rebuild the Jedi Order, or at least keep survivors safe from the Empire.”

The video game will be receiving a sequel, subtitled Survivor, in 2023, which will reportedly be set around the time of the recently concluded Obi-Wan Kenobi series. There’s a good chance any potential live-action series involving Cal Kestis could be revealed during the Star Wars panel at D23 later this year. We’ll keep you posted.
