Edgar Wright is continuing to fill out the cast for his upcoming feature adaptation of Stephen King’s The Running Man.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Michael Cera (Barbie) and Emilia Jones (Locke & Key) are the latest additions to the ensemble cast, joining just a few days after Deadline reported that Jayme Lawson (The Batman) had landed a role in the production. For Cera, The Running Man will reunite him and Wright for the first time since 2010’s Scott Pilgrim vs. The World (no I’m not counting the animated series).

The trio joins a cast that includes Glen Powell, Lee Pace, Josh Brolin, Karl Glusman, Katy O’Brien, and Daniel Ezra.

THR also had some new details about who everyone is playing, so let’s run that down right now. Cera will play “a naïve rebel who tries to help” Glen Powell‘s Ben Richards, while Jones has been cast as “a privileged woman blind to the oppression of the government.”

Brolin, meanwhile, stars as the ruthless producer of the game show, O’Brian will play one of the contestants on the show, and Pace is playing the brutal chief hunter tracking down Richards. Lawson plays “Sheila, the wife of Glen Powell’s Ben, who struggles to care for their sick child amid a dystopian future.”

Although production on The Running Man was expected to begin in November, THR mentions in its article that the movie will now “shoot in London at the top of next year.” Wright is directing The Running Man from a screenplay he co-wrote with Michael Bacall.

Set in a dystopian America in the year 2025, The Running Man centers on Ben Richards, a desperate man who participates in a violent reality show called The Running Man in order to win enough money to revive his gravely ill daughter. The show follows Richards being chased by numerous hunters sent to kill him. The upcoming film is based on the 1982 King novel that the author published under his pseudonym Richard Bachman.

The Running Man is scheduled to hit theaters on November 21, 2025.
