Upcoming ‘Star Wars’ Series ‘The Acolyte’ Announces Full Cast and Debuts First Look

Disney+ has announced that production has officially started on The Acolyte, an upcoming original Star Wars series from Lucasfilm.

The streamer also released the first image from the set (see above), which shows leads Amandla Stenberg (The Hate U Give) and Lee Jung-jae (Squid Game) with The Acolyte creator, showrunner, and executive producer Leslye Headland (Russian Doll).

The full cast for The Acolyte was also released. Joining Stenberg and Jung-jae are Manny Jacinto (The Good Place), Dafne Keen (Logan), Jodie Turner-Smith (Queen & Slim), Rebecca Henderson (Inventing Anna), Charlie Barnett (Russian Doll), Dean-Charles Chapman (1917), and Carrie-Anne Moss (The Matrix).

The Acolyte is a mystery-thriller that will take viewers into a galaxy of shadowy secrets and emerging dark-side powers in the final days of the High Republic era. A former Padawan reunites with her Jedi Master to investigate a series of crimes, but the forces they confront are more sinister than they ever anticipated.

Other Star Wars series currently filming include Ahsoka and Skeleton Crew, with the third season of The Mandalorian in post-production. The Acolyte does not have a premiere date at this time but will stream exclusively on Disney+.

Are you excited to see the High Republic Era explored on the small screen? Do you think the series will be as good as The Mandalorian or Andor? Discuss!
