Brian De Palma’s Carrie is a great movie. The poster for the theatrical release ain’t so great. But the poster for the French release, on the other hand, is boss. Everything about this poster is better than the American version. The bright colors contrasted against the negative space, the way the fire motif is repeated in the outline of the house and Carrie’s hair: the simplicity of the design combined with the more artistic approach to the poster just works better than the American poster. I don’t know if it’s a better marketing tool, but it’s certainly a better piece of art.
But judge for yourself.
