Do You Think Warner Bros. & Paramount Should Merge?

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Our mission at SAW is to foster conversations about this thing we all love (or love to hate): film/TV. Many of our features are designed with you in mind. Your opinions, to be more to the point. You have ’em. We want to hear ’em.

Question of the Day (QOTD) is exactly what it sounds like. It’s a film/TV-related question that we put to you, the reader. The comments section below is like the feedback box at work; except, in this example, we actually read what you write and care about what you have to say.

By now you’ve probably seen the reports that Warner Bros. Discovery and Paramount Global have held talks about a potential merger of the two media companies. So, yeah, the question I ask today is: do you think they should merge?

I’m against it and here’s why. On one hand, Paramount Global controlling Warner Bros. Discovery sounds much better than what Zazzy is doing right now to WB. However, Zazzy wants to apparently be the Disney in this situation with Paramount playing the role of 20th Century Fox. Yeah, no thanks.

But really, I’m just getting tired of all these studios slowly eating each other. If this actually happens, then it’ll be Universal vs. Disney/Fox vs. Warner Bros./Paramount, with Apple/MGM and Sony as the rest of the Top 5. Gross. If these studios are struggling with so much debt, maybe they need to a) stop paying the executives millions of dollars each year; b) bring down budgets; c) stop paying actors so much; and d) all of the above.

So yeah, I’m against this merger. Also, Warner Bros. is basically bankrupt still so how will a merger with Paramount (who also has a lot of debt) exactly help them?

So what about you, screenagers? Are you for or against MountWarner (as some have begun to call the merger talks)?

I’ll see you in the trenches.
