Down the Tubes: ‘Boba Fett: The Twelve Parsec Stare’ is Star Wars as Spaghetti Western

Down the Tubes is a (semi) regular feature where we, the SAW staff, share our favorite movie-related videos with the Wasteland.

Yesterday, we featured a whacky Boba Fett fan film called Boba’s First Job. It’s worth a watch, if not for a few chuckles. But Boba Fett: The Twelve Parsec Stare takes a bit more of a serious approach, and it’s clear that someone on this production knew what they were doing. It’s not a Hollywood production, but I think in a lot of cases, that is actually a mark in the plus column for these fan films.

But enough chatter. Let’s get to the action.

My honest opinion is that this was pretty well done, but it kind of crapped out when it counted the most: the action scene. After all of that build up, the climax just needed to be more satisfying. And, really, as an action scene, it was kind of anemic. Which is too bad, really, because I thought this was one of the better Star Wars fan films I’ve seen.

The really surprising thing is, this predates The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett. You think Lucasfilm got some ideas from this?

Anyway, what are your thoughts on The Twelve Parsec Stare? Share them in the comments below.
