The other day, Sony released an official trailer for the fifth installment in the Insidious series. Titled Insidious: The Red Door, it’s pretty cool that the horror franchise has the original cast returning for the final chapter of the Lambert family’s freakishly scary saga.
It’s also cool that this is Patrick Wilson’s directorial debut. It’s a nice little touch with him bringing things back full circle to where it all started. I only saw the first film once, but that was enough to freak me out. That Darth Maul-looking dude behind Josh Lambert’s head gives me goosebumps.
Set 10 years after the events of Insidious: Chapter 2, the Lamberts thought they had freed themselves of their demons, but apparently not. Now, if you don’t remember Insidious: Chapter 3 and Insidious: The Last Key were both prequel films that lead into the original film. So if you haven’t seen them, they may or may not be worthwhile to watch before seeing this one. But I’d say the first two are necessary if you ask me. I should probably watch that second film one of these days too.
Plot Synopsis:
Insidious: The Red Door opens in theaters on July 7, 2023.
