Jude Law is going for the Disney Trifecta!
The actor is currently in talks to portray Captain Hook in Disney‘s upcoming live-action adaptation Peter Pan & Wendy. The studio has already cast the titular leads choosing to go for lesser-known actors instead of any two kids from Stranger Things. That means they need an established A-lister for the adult roles.
Variety first reported the casting news. Law recently played the villain in Marvel’s Captain Marvel which earned him his first Disney mark. If he signs on for Peter Pan & Wendy all he would need to do is star in a Star Wars project to complete the Disney Trifecta (Marvel, Lucasfilm, Disney live-action classic). Joaquin Phoenix was originally being eyed for Hook, and apparently Will Smith turned down the role. I think Law has the right level of charm to make Hook a worthy antagonist.
Now all we need to hear about is who will play Tinker Bell. Margot Robbie was once rumored for the role back when Phoenix was rumored for Hook, but with Robbie potentially taking over Pirates of the Caribbean, it’s unlikely she will play Tink (that’s just my guess though).
I’ve never been the biggest Peter Pan fan (I still haven’t seen Hook in its entirety), but Law as Captain Hook is definitely making me give this adaptation a second look. If they cast the right Tinker Bell I may be all in on this upcoming Disney remake.
