Julius Onah to Direct ‘Captain America 4’

Captain America 4 has a director.

Marvel Studios has hired Julius Onah to direct the fourth installment of the Captain America film franchise. Onah is best known for helming 2018’s The Cloverfield Paradox and 2019’s Luce.

The fourth Captain America film will star Anthony Mackie, who will reprise his role as Sam Wilson from previous Marvel Cinematic Universe projects. In 2021’s The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Mackie’s Sam Wilson ditched the Falcon alter ego and took up the mantle of Captain America in the Disney+ show’s series finale.

It is unknown at this time who else might be starring in Captain America 4. A rumor making its way around the web suggests that the film was originally going to have Emily VanCamp come back and have Sharon Carter/Power Broker be the film’s villain, but that after the poor reception to the character’s villainous turn that idea has been taken off the table.

Malcolm Spellman, who was the creator and head writer on The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, is penning the script with Dalan Musson, who also wrote for the series. We’ll keep you posted as more information on the upcoming MCU sequel is likely to be revealed in a few weeks at San Diego Comic Con.
