According to Deadline, the Joe and Anthony Russo (co-helmers of this year’s wildly successful Avengers: Endgame) have agreed to team up with Thor himself Chris Hemsworth to produce his cop-comedy Down Under Cover.
Hemsworth will play a detective on the trail of criminals responsible for a series of baffling casino heists and will team with a headstrong fellow cop (to be played by Tiffany Haddish of Girl’s Trip) to infiltrate the most likely suspects, a troupe of male Australian strippers.
Cherry, the Russos’ next directing project that will star Tom Holland (Spider-Man: Far From Home) is currently in preproduction and will be discussed during the upcoming Cannes Film Festival while Hemsworth has been keeping himself busy with Men In Black: International, Kevin Smith’s Jay & Silent Bob Reboot as well as the starring role in an upcoming unnamed Hulk Hogan biopic.
Howabout another venture into comedy for Hemsworth, Wasteoids? I’m kidding, I think he only does comedies these days; I’d like to think that he has dramatic chops but those get overshadowed pretty heavily (that would be a Dude Thor zinger).
Plus this sort of in-shop palling is something that the Russos are pretty familiar with, seeming to have no problems helping their friends out with various projects and bit parts.
