‘Sonic the Hedgehog 2’ Speeds Onto Home Video This August

Fans can experience next-level adventure in the comfort of their own home later this year when Sonic the Hedgehog 2 arrives on home video.

Paramount Home Entertainment has announced that the sequel to 2020’s Sonic the Hedgehog will arrive on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD on August 9, 2022. Fans will also have the choice to buy both films together in a 2-Movie Collection on Digital or Blu-ray. Sonic the Hedgehog 2 hit Digital on May 24 in the U.S. and Canada.

The Digital, 4K Ultra HD, and Blu-ray releases of the movie include nearly an hour of bonus features in addition to an exclusive animated short entitled “Sonic Drone Home” featuring Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles.

Plot Synopsis:

After settling in Green Hills, Sonic (Ben Schwartz) is eager to prove he has what it takes to be a true hero. His test comes when Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carrey) returns, this time with a new partner, Knuckles (Idris Elba), in search of an emerald that has the power to destroy civilizations. Sonic teams up with his own sidekick, Tails (Colleen O’Shaughnessey), and together they embark on a globe-trotting journey to find the emerald before it falls into the wrong hands.

The film features an all-star cast, which includes James Marsden, Ben Schwartz, Tika Sumpter, Natasha Rothwell, Adam Pally, Shemar Moore, Colleen O’Shaughnessey, Lee Majdoub, Idris Elba, and Jim Carrey. Sonic 2 was directed by Jeff Fowler from a screenplay by Pat Casey & Josh Miller and John Whittington.
