That’s No Moon, it’s Another ‘Star Wars’ Development Rumor

Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford in "Star Wars"

The Hollywood Reporter is uh, reporting that director J. D. Dillard and writer Matt Owens have been tapped to develop a new entry into the Star Wars universe. Of course  info is sketchy at best and there was no certainty on whether this will be a feature film or a Disney+ movie/series. I can tell you with great confidence that Max Rebo, Droopy McCool & Sy Snootles will not be the main characters in the film/series.

In addition to writing and directing the sci-fi film Sleight, Dillard has worked in a production/ technical support capacity for The Force Awakens, which is reassuring as a fan. Owens writing credits include Agents of SHIELD, Luke Cage & The Defenders (I’m not sure those are projects to brag about).

Let me honest, at this stage of the game I think Kathleen Kennedy and Bob Iger Bob Chapeck are sitting on a beach in California, sipping on Mimosas and laughing hysterically while they pull random names out of a hat then leak them to the media. Given the current Star Wars cred of Jon Favreau and Taika Waititi, you’d be crazy not to include them in anything moving forward. Almost everything those two have touched geek-related has been golden! Now excuse me while I beg for a Figrin D’an & the Modal Nodes series!
