We gave every screenager three days to watch the season 2 finale of The Mandalorian before we decided to reveal the after-credits scene. ‘Cause we ain’t about that spoiler-filled headline life! So, let’s discuss!
Star Wars fans had a lot to talk about after the shocking reveals in the season 2 finale. However, perhaps the biggest surprise was the post-credits scene reveal that Boba Fett will be receiving his own Disney+ TV series, titled The Book of Boba Fett.
There was some confusion soon after regarding whether The Book of Boba Fett was going to be its own spin-off or the third season of The Mandalorian. The official Star Wars twitter account cleared that up today by tweeting the series announcement. They claim it will be a “new Original Series, starring Temuera Morrison and Ming-Na Wen.”
For the unfamiliar, in the post-credits scene, we “see Return of the Jedi character Bib Fortuna, Jabba’s old right-hand man, sitting on his throne in the old palace. Fennec (Ming-Na Wen) enters shooting most of the creatures around him, and blasting the shackles off the blue dancing girl. Then Boba enters. Bib exclaims, “Boba, I thought you were dead!” Boba then shoots him dead and takes the throne at Jabba’s palace.”
The series will be executive produced by Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni, and Robert Rodriguez. Rodriguez’s involvement suggests that we could be seeing the proclaimed director return to a galaxy far, far away to helm future episodes of its recently announced live-action slate.
The series will be set within the timeline of The Mandalorian, and run alongside the upcoming Ahsoka and Rangers of the New Republic series. Sources state that the four shows will co-exist and crossover before building to an Avengers-level event where the characters will all come together to defeat a mutual threat.
The Book of Boba Fett will begin streaming in December 2021 on Disney+.
What do you think about Boba Fett getting his own series? Do you like the partnership between Boba and Fennec?
