Lucasfilm Announces ‘The Mandalorian’ Spin-Offs ‘Ahsoka’ and ‘Rangers of the New Republic’

We knew they were coming, but it’s always nice when we get the confirmation.

Lucasfilm announced today during is Disney Investor Day presentation that it is actively developing two spin-offs of The Mandalorian. The first, Ahsoka, will be led by Rosario Dawson. The second, Rangers of the New Republic, is rumored to be the Cara Dune (Gina Carano) spin-off we’ve been hearing rumblings about.

Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni are developing both of these shows concurrently, and, according to Kathleen Kennedy, the shows will be set during the same timeline as The Mandalorian. Also, all three shows are expected to culminate in some sort of epic event (Thrawn, perhaps?).

No word on what exactly these shows will be about, but it’s exciting that the live-action television side of Star Wars is growing. The Mandalorian is going to have a lot of company soon, especially with series focusing on Cassian Andor and Obi-Wan Kenobi also in production.

It was also stated that season 3 of The Mandalorian season 3 will premiere Christmas 2021 on Disney+. That will be a nice present waiting for us come next year.

What do you think of the two spin-offs? Bummed there was no announcement of a Boba Fett series? Maybe he’ll appear in Rangers of the New Republic. Tell us what you want each series to be about down in the comments!
